A dedicated group of Chicago cycling community members are coming together to launch Cyclocross for Everyone (CX4E), a bike racing event designed to promote inclusion, community, and the sport of cyclocross.

CX4E’s first official race, Biscuit Cross, began at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Big Marsh Bike Park (11559 S. Stony Island Ave, Chicago, IL 60617). The event featured races in eight self-selected categories, including ones for youth and racers on adaptive bikes. Our mission is to create a high-production value race series that provides competition and good times in equal measure.

Cyclocross is a unique discipline: it originated as a way for cyclists to continue racing through dreary European offseasons. Racers compete for a set duration on a 1-2 mile course composed of varied surfaces and features intended to challenge rider's fitness and finesse. Traditional cyclocross bikes are similar to road bikes with the addition of knobby tires and increased tire clearance. However, it can be enjoyed on a wide variety of bikes as long as they have relatively low gearing and room for moderately wide tires.

CX4E emerged in response to USA Cycling’s recent policy change banning transgender athlete participation in female categories. Members of Chicago’s cycling community saw an opportunity to create an event that welcomes all riders, regardless of gender identity or experience level. The initial CX4E event welcomed more than 100 racers of all ages.

The event is made possible through the generous support of our local sponsors. Organizers are currently seeking partnerships to help establish CX4E as a recurring race in Chicago.
